The Upper Room Ministry was launched on 9th March 1992 at the Trinity Christian Centre, East Avenue, London E6. Invited guests were: Elim Pentecostal Church Prayer Team of the Clapham Common, Rev Odeogberin (Then Missionary Director F.G.C in Nigeria), Pastor & Pastor (Mrs) Ojumu and family.
When the Lord spoke to her to find another place; the Holy Spirit of God directed her to Balaam Leisure Centre. On 17th May 1992 the team started worshipping as a Church at Balaam Leisure Centre. Then the Upper Room Ministry changed to Foursquare Gospel Church, this being because Rev Mrs Sajowa served as a pastor in Foursquare Gospel Church for some years in Nigeria.
After worshipping at the above location for six years, the Lord provided a new Church facility for a place of worship. In 1998 the Lord provided miraculously this strategic premises at 525-529 Barking Road, E13. After unsuccessful attempts to purchase 159 Barking Road, E16 or 246 Bow Road in Tower Hamlets. To God be the glory.
Since November 2007, the church reverted back to its original name of Upper Room Foursquare Chapel as an independent Foursquare Church. Spiritually this Church stands as – “The Gold Lamp stand” and the “Two Olive Trees” as the vision given to Rev Dorcas Sajowa and revealed in the book of Zechariah 4:2, 7, 10, 14. The Solid Gold Lamp stand with a bowl at the top and Seven Lights on it, with Seven Channels to the Light’’ – Are my ‘’Seven Children ‘’ – they are for signs and Wonders.
